Default Need Headlight Help

Hey guys, I need a hand with a headlight problem. I've got an 86 and just yesterday my passenger headlight got stuck up. I have checked the relay and that works fine. It will pop up but it won't retract back. If I manually wind it back down it will pop up again but will not retract. Is this a motor issue or an isolation relay issue??? or something else that I don't know of??? Any ideas or suggestions??? Anyone else ever have this problem??? Thanks in advance!!!

This might help you diagnose if it's an external problem (relay).

Hopefully it's not a bad internal limit switch and/or gear.

Turned out it was the isolation relay. Thanks for the help.

Well, it worked for about 2 days. Now I have a different issue. The headlight won't pop up but will retract if i pop it manually. I tested everything and it seems like all the voltages are correct and in the correct locations when they are sapposed to be there. I tested the relay and it is working fine. I am guessing there is a problem with the motor. Does this sound like a correct diagnosis? I know the motors are expensive even for the rebuilt ones. Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!!

Default poltergast lights

That darn space ship went over and sucked my battery dry and now one of my head lights is doing that as well. I just replaced the motor and it worked for a week. It won't go up , but will if i twiddle the manual ****. It will go down ok. Tried to adjust the limit screws but still dosn't work. I am up Mandevile Canyon in Brentwood. Love my vette and will be getting the Dynamax bullets for the drone factor as it hurts at 1200 to 1500 rpm. Lets watch for the solution..obrian

sounds like you might have an intermitten open somewhere or a loose contact, which would explain why you can manually turn it and it then pops.

mine all of a sudden just started working. i was driving down the road and all of a sudden it popped and has worked fine ever since. anybody's guess is as good as mine.
