Default Do Cops like Vettes?

One nice summer day I took my Vette out for a 150mile ride to a casino up north and on the way out i 'might' of exceeded the speed limit just a little while keeping my eye out for law enforncement people. Anyway I saw one up ahead in the middle of the e-way and checking my speed i maintained it at 7 miles over the speed limit.[77 in a 70] Well he of course pulled out and followed me at first hanging back quite a bit. But after a few miles i noticed him accelerate [no other cars around] right up to my bumper. Then he jumper to my left past me and then cut right in front of me and hit the brakes. I slowed down and he just pulled of the road throwing dirt and debris all over my car and sat there waiting for the next car/vette . Seemed like he was mad that he couldn't pull me over for something.. He was a state trooper, but then on my way back on a 4 lane highway i was going the same 7 over [gotta love digital] 52 in a 45 out in the middle of basicly no where. A county sheriff heading the other way pulls a u turn and drives up on me so i change lanes and so did he and turns on his lights!! He asked if i know why he pulled me over and i said no. He said you where going 10 over back there and i said my car only showed 7 over. He said he'd be right back.. After swaeting a minute or two he came back and said my speedo might be off because my tires look new and may be a little over sized...[maybe it was just right case i got no ticket!] Just becareful but i know you where cause you got the digitail dash in there don't ya?,and this sure is a nice car and it sounds great.. I think he wanted to talk about it more but i said thanks i gotta go and he said just becarefull pulling out and have a nice day!!
So does this happen tp everyone? I' ve had several other fast cars and never had so much police contact on one little drive before...

Not everyone should be doing a Police Officers Job IMO. Both stops were unwarranted. A officer is risking his life every times He or she makes a car stop. Most officers are injured in accidents going on calls or by other motorists while doing a car stop then with firearms. At least in the department I work in as a civilian those are the statistics.(one of New Yorks largest). Officer number one has emotional issues that need looking after. There are enough people out there speeding well over 7 MPH that need to be stopped. Stopping someone to look at their car or to see a pretty face is just reckless. Lets hope both these guys get a inside job in the future before they get themselves or someone else hurt.

i always like those little home-town cop stations where their chief tells them to spend an entire day ever month of the year doing nothing but issuing citations for non-moving violations. sorta kinda like a glorifed parking meter lady.

you know, that funny income gathering thing.

Yes, we do. I own 2 of them.

Have your digital checked, I put on new tires (same size as originals), mine is not correct anymore, is off 3-4 mile per hours (too the low side).

Always 2 sides to a story ......... don't be too critical, if you don't know the reason.

passed a ford escape cop going the other way in the middle of no where. and I saw him hit his brakes. No S*it ten mins later ( I was going 25 over till the bend came and thats when I slowed down and I passed him) he caught up behind me for about a mile riding my ***. He pulled me and my buddy over who was with me and said" once I passed you you sped up a bit" I told him I slowed alot to take the bend and then got back up to speed. I was being super nice and had just goten a ticket the week before for no seat belt. So I was really nervous. He asked for everything I told him I have to step out to find my registration. When I got out, he asked about my vette, year and everything you could think of. Told me he had one and loved it....He came back 5 mins later and started to ask about my dvd player and thought it was soo cool. After all, just told me to be careful because he knows how easy it is to speed. NO TICKET

Be glad that you didn't get a ticket-in some small towns, they will write one for 2 mph over. The line a freind of mine was given was, "We take safety seriously here...." However, I think that most troopers are forgiving to Corvettes in general.

Depends on the cop. I let most go as long as I won't get in trouble for not enforcing the law.

If you wanna do a burnout and I'm there in uniform and your not a danger to anyone else, go for it.

On the other hand if others are there and it's reckless, you will pay.

Cops like my vette.

Always tell me I have a nice car.

I think most cops are into man things. motorcycles, cars etc.

Fireman too.

Go by any firestation or copstation and you usually see some cool toys.

Radar detectors are your best friend. Since I got my Escort 8500 almost 2 years ago, I've been pulled over only one time and received no tickets. The one time I was pulled over the cop saw me going fast but didn't have his radar on. No radar= no ticket. Before I got the detector, I had about 4 tickets within 2 years. One more would have gotten me suspended. I still speed often when conditions are good, and the Escort gives me the peace of mind I need to enjoy driving on public roads.

Around here, cops don't need an extra reason to pull you over, even if you're in the family sedan. But riding around in a vette just makes it that much worse.

I agree..
So far.....I was pulled over twice by a NE trooper....Neither was for EXCEEDING THE LIMIT....the first time by the Lincoln airport and this trooper actually left the shoulder to catch me.for NO TAGS.....When he caught up (HA HA Yeah right I was doin' 50 in a 55mph..) I pulled over, gave him the papers, we waited for a while when he came back, He seemed depressed that he couldn't write me up for anything( I wasn't speeding and even though i did not have tags on the car, i had everything i needed to prove the car was mine.....Then asked how much my 315's GS-C's cost me..NO TICKET .....The other pulled me over just outside of ASHLAND, NE for NO TAGS....I pulled over and He made a immediate comment on my exhaust..." Man, that exhaust sounds pretty ! " ( But check this out..)...Theres a Retired NE State Trooper ( my passenger ) riding shotgun with me...He flashed his BADGE at the trooper, Tells him to go to the car and report the car he pulled over has a RETIRED Communications operator in the car.... He never left to look me up on the computer...He handed my stuff back and we left ha ha NO TICKET ...I'm really careful in this car and im watchful because some troopers here will pull you over for no front plate ( I run my FILLER PLATE, But Carry my plate with me...... ) One word...CORVETTE !
to our NE troopers burning the midnight oil

Something I have heard the NE troopers say

UNDER 8 ... Thats just great !
OVER 9 ... your **** is mine !

One cop liked my C4 so much he pulled me over for 95 in a 70. I'm just glad he didn't like it so much that he knew that two miles before that I was going 105!

Yes we love vettes. I own 1 and am currently looking for my 2nd, which I hope will be a GS.

I must admit, I pulled over a 08 Z06 just to get a look at it. The guy was great we spent about 20 minutes on the side of the highway talking vette.

I got pulled 2 weeks ago for 65 in a 55 by Florida Hwy Patrol (a chick), when she passed me she hit her lights. I pulled over after a curve and I waited on her on a side road. She thought that I was trying to act like it wasn't me that passed her and really had an attitude with me. Until I told her that I had pulled over to WAIT on her!!!!! Then her attitude did a complete 180 and she wrote me a WARNING. She asked if I was speeding "because it was a Vette and it just felt Good". I told her no, that I just don't drive it that often and it kinda gets away from me sometimes. I didn't know that FHP carried written warnings. Go Figure.

I'm a fan of anything on four rubber tires that goes fast.

In the PRC 5 over is a ticket, but they don't usually write them till 10 over. Some cops like Corvettes some don't, but what they all like is overtime. Some need it to just get by. They're under paid for the risks they have to take.

Last ticket I got was in 1987.
