Default paint question

i made a thread but i dont think it worked.. so im making another one in case. so i just got a 1990 black vette. good part is it has been sitting forever so low miles. bad part is the paint is really faded. anyone know a ball park figure of how much the original black paint would be.

I have a receipt for mine for $9300, but I went with the best. If you have a shop I would do it yourself, that is where the fun is!

Have you thought of bringing it to a professional detailer? If it's only faded he may be able to machine it and bring back the luster.

I agree, find a good detailer that knows how to buff out a car with polisher. That would be the first thing I would try. I have an orbital buffer (not a polisher) and even that with 3M's Finesse-It II Finishing Material which is a 1500 micro cut did an excellent job removing scratches and swirl marks.

Good luck

If you can't find it any good painter can match it. I had this done in straight blue before the airbrushing and even the pearl mix was dead on and he used a Dodge paint code

The paint by itself for a C4 would be $1000 to $2000 dollars worth of product, not including the tools. That is good quality paint. The paint is not rare because any paint color can be mixed with the proper paint code. You want the color to be the same, but with a paint product that takes advantage of new technology. Paint in the 80's, especially clearcoat, was not very high quality! A person could do it themselves for a few grand.
