What does it mean when the green lights on the climate blinks and then stops?
It means you have to send it to Dr. Dons to get refurbed. I just had it done a month ago. Tell them Brenda K. sent you and they will do it for $60 even. I tried everything to get it working like cleaning contacts, etc and nothing else works it's easy to remove and they can turn it around in a day.
His and mine are the same deal. The electromic climate control (ECC) is separate from the other lights and apparatus. When it blinks the circuit board need to be resoldered.

That's interesting.
There's a procedure to pull a code from the climate control if that light blinks. I've done it, but it didn't make sense to me.
Mine blinks, sometimes. My AC and heat work, but sometimes I wonder about where it's directing the heat or AC.

Thats typical when computer boards, chips, PROMS, etc go out, they send you irratic codes and it can drive you crazy. My ECM went out in another C4 and the car was driving rough...every day I pulled a different code and replace several items before it hit me Replaced the ECM and the code problems were gone.

You misunderstand. There's a procedure to pull the codes from the climate control. When it flashes, it's telling you it has an error condition. If you press 2 of the buttons at once, it will flash a code. I think I got a -1?
I know about pulling codes from the OBDI port.

I love a woman that talks about this type of PROM! If she is right, that will make Brenda the PROM queen!! Put down the top on the olds and wave to the crowd! (Sorry, I could not resist!)

Jakers that is the cutest and funniest post I have even seen on any forum...if you run for President, you got my vote!!!
That link was for the 90-96 models...does it work for the 84-89 models?
This will:
Turn the ignition to run.
In the upper right area of the Heater/AC controls, press the fan up arrow and the down arrow at the same time for 5 seconds.
-00 will display in the LCD. (System parameter)
To examine system parameter errors, press the Auto fan button once.
For '88 and '89, push the Outside Air Temp and Auto Button at the same time. A diagnostic mode will appear in the Outside Air Temp Display. Press warm until it shows 08. Press cool for any codes. 00 is no codes. 01 is the Air Mix Door Feedback Circuit (open - no signal); 02 Outside Air Sensor open; 04 Outside Air Sensor shorted; 08 In Car Air Sensor open; 16 In Car Air Sensor shorted. As you can see, there's really not a lot there. Most problems - other than a failure in the Controls or a broken clip or drive gear (usage depends on Year) at the door motor are what plague most older HVAC systems - no gas and or/a worn out compressor.
I looked in my owners manual for a '96 and it said the recirculation feature will not work if the outside temp. is below freezing. On my Vette the light flashed about 5 times and went out. When the temp. went above freezing everything worked fine.
