Grinding.

ok so i just went on a ride to auto zone with my 88 vette.(i needed powersteering) anyways when i would come to a stop and have the car in first gear with the clutch down it would make a grinding sound. Im having problems with my clutch right now anyways so im taking it to get looked at soon i hope. I was wondering if this sounds like a clutch not engaging problem.

I am assuming it is at this point when you hit the brake pedal?
If so it may be a problem with your brake pads . However some more details may help. The front pads and rotors are easy enough to check

no its not my brakes. it happens sometimes when im rolling to a stop and try to put it into first. i think it might be my fly wheel. im takeing it to clutchs only tomorrow.

could be the input shaft. Had a T5 that started grinding the 2-1 & the 1-2 shifts. The input shaft was toast . does it whine a little in load and then go quiet when you just depress the clutch with no shift
