Electronic Dash

On my '93 with 295,000 miles on it, the SYS letters just started flashing on the dash. I know in the owners manual it states that this is a 'system error' and needs to be serviced by a Chevy dealer. Does anyone know the most likely cuplrit for this message, and should it be serviced? The car is in good shape and very reliable. Am planning to drive it for a bit yet.

Do a search, there's lots of topics on this, some are even current. I'm having the same problem and know it has something to do with the ECM/PROM. Some people get lucky and it turns out to be that the battery is going bad. How old is yours?

Mine goes off as well but it is due to the aftermarket head unit. Since their is no dimmer on the head unit the computer thinks there is an issue with wirering even though there isnt.

Weak battery, your alternator has a hard time keeping it fully charged.

This was my guess too aftermarket radio. But the battery may be the issue as well. C4s require every volt of 12 volt power or they do strange things. Like flash codes etc
