Default Wind deflector problem...

I got the wind deflector off Eckler's. Looks like the same one Corvetteamerica sells too.

They certainly did reduce the wind noise when the windows are down. Also, the air blows in my face far, far less than it did.

On the other hand, there is a lot more wind noise when the windows are up, particularly on the driver's side.

I am wondering if the kind of got just don't fit properly-is there supposed to be a 3/8-1/2 inch space between the edge of the deflector and the edge of the windshield?

Your right to be suspicious, the noise level should decrease with windows up or down. Perhaps if you posted a pic we could take a look

Put mine on and what a difference, hated to rivet the mirrors, but since I drive it a lot, seemed like the only solution.

I have taken off the driver's side 3 times now to see if repositioning it makes any difference, but it doesn't.

They look positioned exactly the same on each side, but only the driver's side makes noise. I have never actually been in the passenger's seat, but my girlfriend said there was almost no noise from her side.

The good news is they both do work well when the windows are down. Much, much quieter and less wind in the face.

Z51JEFF:

How hard is it to put the fiberglass on it? Just go to home depot and buy the repair kit and resin? Can you explain your exact process for filling the gap with fiberglass? What do you use to extend the edge when putting the fiber glass on? carboard? Do you bondo it down to make it smooth and uniform before painting it?

Also, before you extended it, do you think I ought to tape a carboard extension on it to see if that even works reducing the noise?

Im filling in the gap because it looks better plus its got to do something to reduce the wind.I used some tape to form the edge I wanted and then built it up with JB Weld.I used fiberglass to strengthen that. You can get the fiberglass supplies at Tap Plastics,I dont know if they have Tap Plastics in your area.Im using marine grade resin instead of polyester. The marine resin has no smell opposed the the polyester resin which reeks.Ill get a few pictures in a day or two.
