Speedo/Odo question
My buddy has an 84 with a few problems that he's trying to address. !st of all his electronic dash is pretty screwed up. It operates intermittently and doesn't always give useful info when it is working. He's going to take that to a shop and see what's up with that. But the odd issue is the odometer. It doesn't work at all. I would have expected that there is a typical speedo cable running from the trans into the dash, and that there is some A/D converter box for the dash/speedo but a direct link to the analog odometer.
Can someone explain how the system works so I can steer him towards how to diagnose the issue?
