700R4 Problem

85' Corvette Auto car
I recently noticed that I lost engine braking in first second and third, it has engine braking in OD.Reverse also works fine. Other than that it shifts very firm and holds full engine power (390 rwhp LS1) Any tranny guys out there? For some reason im thinking valve body related... If its ok to drive it like that I will. Just as long as im not doin any other damage by doing so.

Before you wander back to the C4 section.......sounds like the overrun clutch in your 700R4 has taken a dive. That would require a teardown, sorry.

Especially if it is the origional trans. The gm frictions tend to delaminate over time.
