Default induction 1984

I was wondering how to get more air to the 84 x fire. There is a small opening above the rad. cover seems to be it. so please direct me to a good thread to help open it up....I put in a 180 instead of the 195degree thrermostat and my gas milage improved a lot. cruizes along ot 179 which i love. obrian

Cut a hole in the shroud in front of the radiator to match the hole that leads to the ductwork in the hood, use weather strip so they seal together when the hood is closed. Add a K&N filter and you'll see 1/10 and 1mph gain in the 1/4 with the now functional ductwork. Tried and tested on my car. Let me know if ya need me to take a pic for ya.

Default sawzall

If I had my sawzall i would do it right now...makes total sense. The car must have had to suck real hard without this opening. thanks...the k/n helped and now for a stage one jet chip and dynamaz mufflers to get rid of the drone...b

Default temp question

I will do this change in a minute. Now I am worried about the changing of the thermostat to 180. "Know it all" says that in a few months of running great it will cause the computor to throw funny codes and start to run bad. I have ordered the stage one JET chip and didn't ask if it worked with the 180 thermostat. Will call tomorrow about that. Boy there is a lot to know. and its like stirring up a hornets nest as it just keeps getting better and better and deeper and deeper. I just want it to run a bit better and i feel that I am on a slippery slope. Oh Where does one get the cord for hooking up to the harness and into a laptop.....I love this site. obrian

I installed a 160 therm. never had any problems - no codes - no over heating ever

But with the outside temps at 20 - I have to wear 2 coats, hat, gloves and a muff

So, I bought this car for 1600 and it all worked even the A/C. And never being able to leave well enough along I am tweaking it. The lower thermostat made such a HUGE difference to the seat in the pants feeling that it actually went sort of fast. I own a 65 Corvair Corsa with a 440 hp Corvette 350 in the back seat. Its a Crown Conversion. and that is fast. So I want to make it all that it can be. Open one door and see twenty more that need to be dealt with. So the new chip will go in and we shall see what happens. I know cold as the main house is in Cor D lene Idaho and its cold there. That's why I work in L.A for the winter and get the good weather during the spring and summer. Ob.

180 thermo won't hurt anything. DON'T waste money on a chip. DO-port your intake, add 1.6 roller tip rockers.
