I don't even order my parts @ my shop from them. Now 4 wax and stuff like that go 4 it. I have customers that came 2 me from there and tell me all kinds of horror stories. Thanks 4 the new customers though Pep Boys. :D :D :D
I used to have a Mercedes 560 SL AMG. After paying $250 per wheel to have them professionally restored (old style AMG star spoke is no longer around), I went to just have tires remounted. they proceeded to drop one on its face on the grease rack. Never been back. :boxing
I have had dealings with one of the Pep Boys in OKC (I took a friends car in.) and they are crooks. They tried to rip this woman off and thought they could get away with it because she lived out of town and they didn't think she could check the work they were supposed to do. They were going to charge her $2100 for a hose, thermostat and water pump on a GM car. The only thing that was wrong was a hole in the upper radiator hose, which I fixed later for $9. While I was waiting for them to push the car out of the shop, I saw them charged every customer something extra. Example; They found "bad front end parts" on every alignment they did, including ball joints on a 2000 car with less than 17,000 miles. This store is so bad someone (not me) put signs up in front of the store stating they were thieves, rip-offs and liars. I would agree with whoever put the signs up that the service manager (at that time, since I don't know if he is still there) is a thief and a liar and I have the paperwork to prove it. Can you tell I don't rate that place very high? I would have sued them but it wasn't my car.
lol we don't got pep boys up here in Canada but i'm sure if i was in the states i'd never go there. I mainly buy parts at a parts shop called Lordco i get my waxes and everything there and my parts too cuz my college gives me 30% off on everything they have. Also for mechanical work? My uncles a mechanic and his shop is right next door to my dad's pizza place so i usually drop the vette in with him while i'm helping out at the shop (hell i live upstairs of the pizza place so you could say i got a mechanic right next door) :)
but yeah as for advice to give you? from reading the other posts....... run don't walk.... RUN away from pep boys and never look back! stick to some other places for buying anything for your car and for mechanical work? find a decent repairshop who has a mechanic who can work on corvettes ask your friends if they know anyone i'm sure someone will show up. In my case..... don't even go to the dealership they are crooks too they always want to charge you for extras aswell and as for shops specializing in corvettes only? well find a decent one the one i dealt with treated me very poorly and i bought my vette from them aswell they pretty much told me that the car is my problem now, they should be happy i don't got time to spend in courtrooms with em or i'd have taken em to court for wanting to charge me 1000 bucks CDN (divide by 1.55 to get in US Dollars) for a fricking weatherstripping piece for my windshield! YES 1000 CDN DOLLARS FOR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WEATHERSTRIP ONLY! I CAN GET THE ENTIRE CARS WEATHERSTRIPPING DONE FOR THAT MUCH!............... sorry i was venting ;) hope i helped ya out though :D
