Hi guys. When I put my '95 away for the winter the AC was working fine; but now it doesn't seem to work at all. The further down I turn the thermostat the harder the fan blows, but the air temp is ambient outside temperature at best. I bought a recharge kit but the pressure looks like it is right where it should be. I have the automatic thermostat option, so you can't even turn on the AC manually; all you can do is turn the temp down to 60 (that's as far as it goes). Is there anything special I should be looking at, or do I just need to take it in and write a check? (One of the reasons I got a C4 is because they have all of the modern conveniences like AC and cruise that make it enjoyable to take on trips).
Thanks for any help
(Oh, I took the wife for a ride to get some lunch today; got snowed on, and 68 degrees by the time we got home. Gotta love Colorado in March)

Can you hear the compressor clutch engage? That is where I would start trouble-shooting.
Assuming the compressor is engaged (hopefully you've verified that!), it sounds like your Vette's blend door or temp door has quit working. It's controlled by an electric motor and there's a couple of ways to see what it's doing. Start by removing the Blower Module on the left side of the Evaporator Case and with that gone, you can look inside and observe the door. Have someone punch the controls between 60 and 90 - it should move - my guess, yours isn't. Next, see if you can hear it running. Disconnect and reconnect the battery which will clear the Processor's memory and remove the passenger's side hush panel so that you can get a good shot at the motor (it's mounted on the heater box so count on laying on your back and contorting youself into a pretty uncomfortable position). Then turn the ignition on and with the HVAC controls on Auto, the motor should cycle through a complete cycle (it needs to burn into memory fully opened and fully closed for it to work right so it's trained to do this when you erase everything). If you hear it running and the door isn't moving, it's hooked up to the door linkage through a small gear. That gear has probably stripped and someone around here was able to find a replacement (Dealer?) without having to buy a new motor. In any event, you'll want to remove it so that you can look at - OR - if it didn't run, so that you can provide 12 volts to it from another source. If that makes it work, the Processor (Programmer in GM speak) is probably shot, but usually it's just the gear.
