Hey, i was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem before with the vette not starting. i think its because of the fuel pump, and i hope thats all it is, but i was wondering if anyone may have ideas of what to check and how to fix it. there is no power to the fuel pump, but the fuses are good. is there a way to check power that comes out from the ECM to the pump relay? im not sure which wires to check first, so if anyone has had this problem, or knows what i might be able to do to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated!
Have you made sure you're getting spark??? 10times out of 10 thats been my problem. As for testing the fuel pump I'm not sure about that. Do you have fuel pressure?
If you apply 12 volts to termianl "G" on the ALDL connector(above right shin/knee), it will bypass the relay and send power to the pump. Should make diagnosis a bit easier.
I don't have the schematics for a 91 so I can't comment on which wire from ECM goes to relay. The pump will only run for 2 seconds, after that the ECM wants a reference signal from distributor before it will engage fuel pump again. Enough cranking should get the oil pressure high enough to allow the oil pressure switch to send 12 volts to pump, if all else fails.
Here is a little info from my 86 manual. http://members.shaw.ca/agent86/Fuel%...20Delivery.pdf
