The C4 looks and feels like a Corvette. The newer Corvettes might feel like a Corvette, with more power, but look like many other foreign cars out there today. It is difficult to see the difference. No winks, no clamshell hood, no defined classic lines, no digital dash........Personally, I much prefer my C4 to the C6 in looks and reliability.
I totally agree to this one too !
it impress me that in the USA,hometown of the C4's people
still get impressed by them and they are not seeing like
redneck trash, even thou i guess this is the worst times for the C4
and its the pre-classic time, when most of them are beaten specially early ones, but,it impressed me that still people thinks that the C4 it the "new" corvette specially when they see a good shaped one !!
i really like to read that !
Well, I nearly sold my C4 during a bout of senility. When I came to my senses, I still had my Vette. And I'm thinking to myself that my C4 (a 1994 admiral blue ride) does not look like most C4s and no other Vette looks like any C4. The C5s and C6s look basically alike. Sure both have much more horsepower than a little ole C4 and have more refinements than a C4, but who really gives a rat's butt. If you want creature comforts, get a Mercedes Benz or a Cadillac. If you want raw horsepower, get a top fuel dragster and be done with it. In the Vette world, we have the C1s, C2s, C3s and C4s, all of which have their own look and feel. Then there are the C5s and C6s that are cookie cutter cars IMO. Nice cars, I'm sure, but not unique as are the previous generations of Vettes. I like my admiral blue C4 and intend to keep it for the long term, having no plans or desires to purchase another Vette. It gets good MPG, it's paid for, its insurance is cheaper than my Tiburon, and it's reliable and a lot of fun to drive. It only has 300 horses under the hood, which is more than enough to roar past slow traffic on a two lane highway. I don't know what 100 to 200 more horses would accomplish for me. Get a ride in a top fueler if you want your head slammed into the next county.
To each his own.. Personally I'd keep my C4 over a C6..
Based on the payment a C6 would bring I'll keep my C4. Other wise I'd love a new C6. I sell them, and I get to look at them every day. And with that being said. I'd really love a Z06
I feel the C4 interior is the last of the dedicated "vette" interiors. Everything inside it was custom Corvette- radio, switches, dash design (early and late models), and even the orange glow from the late models...it seemed like only the Corvette would get the special parts because it's a special car.
Now because of cost cutting and cross-platform engineering, you see parts in the C5's and C6's that you see in other GM cars (radio/nav system comes to mind, nothing like having the same Delco TheftLock radio that's in my Grandpa's Lumina)
wow! strong statement !!!
Could you explain more ?
Why ?
The best way I can explain this to you is once you equal the horsepower between a C4 and a C6 the C4 is more fun to drive. The 2005 I had was plagued with problems, and the driving experience was sanitized when comparing it to a C4. I was shocked how well it ran because it really doesn't feel as quick as it is. Too much electronic nonsense, too quiet and smooth, a feeling of isolation comes to mind.
I like my C4 better than a C6 also, newer isn't necessarily better to me. There is a lot to be said for the clean lines of the C4, the digital dash, the cockpit feel, the nostalgia factor, and they cost $40,000 less than a new C6. I like the pop up headlights and the elongated hood.
I like the fact that my C4 is starting to age and is doing so well. I see fewer and fewer of them on the road as the months go by. It's not "the previous generation" anymore - the C5 now owns that lowly title. While I love my car dearly, I'd take a C6 any day of the week and twice on Sundays. It's just the payment on one that I don't want. Plus, my car is "done" for the most part in that I don't have any huge mods planned for the near future, I'm happy with the overall look, and it doesn't need anything mechanically.
love my c4 i just sold my c6 in anticipation of getting the new zr1 although thats a little far off but still not sure about that i think that the c4 is better looking than the c5 or c6 feels like a real sports car when you seat in the c5 and c6 seats feel like just a regular car the short i just think its an all around nicer car and dont know about other states but here in houston tx most c5 and c6 owners are very stuck up ppl and kinda look down at c4 drivers but without the start c1 then c2 etc there would be no c3 ,c4,c5, c6, etc and thier usual coments are you think the c4 is better because you cant afford a c5 or c6 i just laugh just my 2 cents
INow because of cost cutting and cross-platform engineering, you see parts in the C5's and C6's that you see in other GM cars (radio/nav system comes to mind, nothing like having the same Delco TheftLock radio that's in my Grandpa's Lumina)
Just my $.02
Gotta agree there. I love the gauge pod of the C5/C6, its a real clean reading analog like a Vette should have. However when I look at the AC and radio controls it reminds me of my Silverado.
ID take a new C6 any day of the week over a C4, you guys must be kidding, i like the C4 but its not as good as a C6 in any way.
Im just to poor to buy one so ill keep driving my C4 but there no contest.
