Why would you want to remove the bread Box. Its part of History, and was a sign of the times? Even John Delorean thought it was a good idea back in 1981.

Vin, put on your glasses. He removed the bread box.
LMAO
Hey Rich,
I noticed the trim in your pic, then read your comment. Did you peel the rubber trim off the bottom of the stock dash pad? Or did yours come with a new trim piece for the bottom?
This panel really makes the interior look different. Its nice though that it looks fairly stock. We want to get some sort of "Corvette" emblem to put on to kinda emulate the stock dash pad look. Crystie imediately said it felt better sitting in the passenger seat and my brother and dad both said it looks much better too.
The bread box always did look intrusive. The flat panel is the way GM should have done it....
On the subject of the bread box....do any of you ever have someone who isn't familiar with Corvettes go for a ride in your C4....and the first thing they do is grab the bread box and try to wiggle it? I've had 3 people do this now.

Yes I took it off the breadbox and slid it right on the new panel, can't remember if I glued it or not.

yup, everyone we have shown the car to would grab it and say "whats this?" or "where does it open?"
My understanding is when Ronald Regan was in office this was to be a passenger side crash pad mandatory on all 1984 cars. However the government had a change of heart at the last minute but Chevrolet decided to keep the design. Maybe Im odd but I think it looks in place and taking it out makes the dash look naked. John delorean also had it built and wrapped in leather in the DMC 12 back in 1981. Remember this was before air bags were mandatory and the DMC 12 as poor as it was put together was a car 10 years ahead in design of most of the rest of the cars built in the 1980s.
I really didn't like the breadbox! This is less weight and easier to work on the car:
I see your steering wheel is wearing, If you want it to look new again get some black paste shoe polish, rub it on, let it dry and it will look great again and will last for a pretty long time. WW
