Default Door Alignment

I just installed new hinge pins and bushings but as you can tell my driver side door is out of alignment. Can someone tell me the best way to realign my door without getting in over my head. My gut was to loosen the hinges on the body side rather than the door and lift up at the door handle and tighten the bolts back up - but either good sense or fear has me in here posting to make sure I do not open a can of worms!
PS I have all new weather stipping but I am going to wait till after paint to install it!

According to the FSM (10-6-19) you should remove the fender, and loosen the bolts on both sides of the hinge (pillar side first) in order to make the adjustment. Then retighten the bolts (again pillar side first) to 26 ft. lbs.

It's really not difficult at all. If you don't have a service manual, try doing a search for "door adjustment" or something like that. I used a floor jack under the door to take the weight off the hinge and you adjust the mounts on the body.

Well I was going to try to align it with the door closed but I guess I could open it and roll the window down and lift it a little - Not sure how easy it would be to align with the door closed (or almost closed) but that would give me a better reference point using the molding lines.

I don't remember if you can get at all the bolts w/the door closed. A floor jack with a bunch of towels under the door worked great for me - just for support.

Yes you can I actually pulled the hinges to replace the pins and bushings with it closed so they would go back in the same spot. I have the fender off and I can get to all of them. I may loosen them and try to align it closed unless someone posts a better or "smarter" way. My concern is that if the door is open it may get squirrelly on me.

If it's any help, here's the tech tip I used when I did mine. There may be some others. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=206&TopicID=2
