Now that I am getting our 'Vette back on the road I explained the wave to my 8 year old son. On the freeway yesterday we saw a C6, we negotiated traffic and slowed so he could catch up and my son could give and get his first wave. This guy and I were side by side on the freeway, my son could have reached over and touched his car. The guy didn't even look over in our direction. I guess I should have known better by the amount I had to slow down and wait for the guy... I proceeded to explain that most C6 owners know nothing about Corvettes let alone the Corvette lifestyle, that it will be a different outcome when we run up on a C4, C3 or earlier.

If you live anywhere around the Fort Worth area........I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to give your son his first wave.
I bet that when it does get returned to him........he tells all of his little friends about it the next day!
............I even get a High Five from grandmas when they see the old codger who's driving it. With that in mind; Who needs a 12 sec. ET?
I would rather get a high five from a 60 year old woman than a wave from a 20 year old girl!

One day a Lambo showed up at the outside edge of the lot..........couldn't find a "buggy boy" anywhere inside the store (we were also sackers at the time)!
Problem is when I go by a c6 going in the other direction and wave and don't get one back I want to do a u turn and go drang him from his car but I keep going straight, but I think it.
Ain't that the truth...you would think that a car salesman might mention it to the buyer. But I'll keep waving, maybe it will sink in to some of these people eventually. I think it's a neat tradition.
My son and I took off the targo and went for a quick run to the bank yesterday and got a wave from a red C6 as we were heading out of our subdivision. Looked like he was slowing for another one but we had to turn into the bank. Some C6'ers know of the tradition
my grandson is 2 1/2 years old... and he knows corvettes when he sees one. I don't know if he would recognize a C1 but he knows all the newer ones and waves when he sees one.Our neighbor got an early C4 about 6 months ago. we were out in the yard just after she got it. He saw her drive by and waved and pointed out to me that it was a "corvette race car" and I didn't wave. :o
Well it is nice to see someone is getting the wave. I've been here in Vegas a couple of months and I've seen several vets when I'm out and about driving. The wave to seeing vets ratio is terrible. Only gotten a couple. Mostly C5's. Getting to the point I don't even look for it.
Last Sunday afternoon my 10 year old daughter and I too the 85 our for a cruise. We were about to exit the Interstate back into town when another 84/85 slowed down, the driver had the windows down and was waving very enthusiastically, It was great to wave back and give each other a thumbs up. My daughter loves the waves and smiles the car makes. I picked her up Friday two weeks ago on her birthday in it. I got to the pick up line a little early, and she and the entire fourth grade were out for after noon play, right next to the pick up line. As soon as I pulled up about a dozen or so boys lined up at the fence and I could here a lot of wows and "thats a Corvette!" from them. My daughter was SOOOO proud when she got in at 3:15. 23 Years ago when I was 15, I had the same reaction to the new C4, some things never change!
