Default Timing belt change question.

My 96 LT4 has become my daily driver and I drive alot now. I have 53K on it now and in no time it will have 60 thousand miles. I was wondering about timing belt change, so I looked at the owners manual for services, and there was no timing belt. Can anyone tell me at what mileage will I have to change timing belt? Thank you.

Well, lucky for you Chevy small blocks come with a single timing chain and they rarely if every fatigue/fail in stock trim, so you're set. Enjoy the LT4.

Wow... Thanks for the information. That puts me in a piece of mind since I dont have to worry about that for a long long time. I do want to turn it into a stoked 383 cammed someday. But thats years away, if ever.

You must be thinking of rubber timing belts which need to be replaced at 60,000 to prevent damage at breaking. V8s have steel chains that don't break, but they do stretch. 100,000 to 150,000 miles is common but it depends on your situation. I did mine at 100,000 with a cam change, and it was time.

Yeah, the chain thing . But depending on how it's driven, you may want to check the sparkplugs. Even if you just check the condition and gap. I know, I know, if you're going that far... change 'em.
Gas filter too .
Buy a box of bandaids if you decide to do plugs yourself and the alcoholic beverage of your choice. Hey if you're in AA, sorry and have a decaf tea .
