I just had a quick question. I know nothing in depth about corvettes, as I own a 2007 Volkswagen, and I need to know something about these wheels.
I am purchasing a set of stock 1990 C4 Wheels (as pictured below)
They are going to be fully polished to a mirrored finish, and while refinishing the wheels I want to put some new center caps in there.
Will the 40th anniversary 1993 ruby red center caps fit these wheels?
The only reason I am choosing these caps over the stock ones is I think the color will look great against the polish, not trying to imitate any other wheel. The wheels aren't even going on a vette, so no one would know anyways lol.
There may be hope for a mod. I believe the OD of face is correct, but the OD of backside clips is the part that screws things up. I've been looking for chrome centers for my polished 90 ZR1's for a long time, still no luck, they are all 91 and up.
hmm, maybe it's possible to just swap the clip inserts off of the stock center caps? in one of the ebay auctions it said you will need the clip inserts from your stock caps as they came with none.

This is exactly right
I have '93 center caps on my '90 wheels and the problem was the clips on the back of the '93 caps do not line up with the '90 wheel.
What I did to make the '93 caps work was take a dremmel tool and slowly sanded the sides of the '93 caps so they would be thin enough to bend off the caps. You just have to get them thin enough to bend off the cap. they are not glued.
Once you have all the caps off then put them over the '90 clips (after removing the '90 logo'd caps) by first centering the cap then gently folding over the remaining metal you have left on the sides of the cap. Because I messed with the thickness of the metal while removing them from there original clip I also added a small drop of silicone for added adhesion.
Good Luck and if you have any questions PM me. It can be done.
