Default Ready for the rollers...

Just made some "minor" mods on my 94. Will be using a Mustang Dyno which I understand are notoriously conservative. Take a look @ my HP projections for a reality check. Agree or disagree??

1. Vortex forced air...5 HP
2. 53MM TB............. ??
3. Shorty headers....... -0-
4. Borla Cats............ 15 HP
5. 1.6RR's(planned).... 15
Net gain..somewhere around 35 RWHP maybe.

Cheers
Check your 6

1. Vortex forced air... 0 hp on a dyno. no air is being forced anywhere, you're not moving.

2. 53MM TB............. 0 hp. You don't need more intake until you do something else to the car that requires it.

3. Shorty headers....... maybe a few HP here.

4. Borla Cats............ maybe a few HP here, but not as much as completely gutting/removing them, which would give you 5-10 hp, I think?

Take it the drag strip, at least then the forced air might give you some 'seat of the pants' HP.

I seriously doubt that you'll see anywhere close to a 30rwhp increase w/ the mods you listed...but I'm curious to see what #'s these things do add up to. Do you have dyno #'s before the mods to make a comparison?

The headers should be good for 6-8 and ditto the cats.

I dynoed my 94 last year, (all stock). 270hp/ 301tq.

STOCK:In the 1/4mi, my best was 13.75 @ 101mph.

Additions made 2 weeks ago include: Ram-Air intake, 1.6rr, LT4 springs, Hooker shorty headers.

No dyno yet, (because I'm not finished modding) , but I do have new 1/4mi times that show a good improvement over stock.

After bolt-ons: 13.231 @106.39mph.

And I will venture to guess that the roller rockers gave you the greatest portion of your improvement. I can't see the ram air doing anything unless your original air filter was really dirty.

Hey Johnny...did you need taller valve covers for those 1.6rr's?
Thanks

No, sir. I just had to trim the drip tabs with a Dremmel tool for clearance.

Oh yeah and I think you will make good HP #'s... I hav CAI, air foil, under drive pullies, 1.6 rr's, long tubes, no cats, high flow resonators and mufflers, and a tune. and I made 320 rwhp and 336 rwtq.

I trimmed them because I've read so many posts here saying it needed to be done.
Were yours roller tipped, or full rollers? Mine are full rollers.

There are two different part numbes for the composite valve covers. The early style and the later style. the early style will not clear the 1.6 rockers (mine didn't) the later style do clear. The look the same on the exterior. (I ordered lateer style)

What kind of dyno did you run it on to give 270hp?

I had my '94 A4 on a Mustang dyno and it only made 226hp @5300 rpm. I was not pleased.
This included the MSD ProBillet distributor, shorty headers, stock exhaust, 160* thermo., HyperTech tune, air foil, etc, etc. All the bolt-ons.

I have added a 75 sq.in. cold ram-air ( retaining the stock filter also, lid not cut), LT4 hot cam kit, GM perf. roller lifters, heads port matched to intake and exhaust w/ paths cleaned up considerably and surfaced, valve job, and all the above mods. Still need to upload my new pcm4less tune...runs very well even on the HyperTech tune, but does not idle high enough so I have to keep the TB revved up a little at stop lights to keep the cam lope controlled.

I'd like to run it on a different dyno the next time and hope for better numbers.

Unfortunately no...will make one pull for Hp & torque w air/fuel ratio, second pull for 1/4 mile timing run with incremental times and speed printout. Careful in selection of mods, target is to retain both drive-ability & fuel economy. At speed(on the road) think I'll have a better shot @ 30rwhp WAG. If not 1.6 RR's will get me there.

I have a full roller... In the original vid you can see each rocker move but it was messed up when I uploaded it to photobucket...

Not close to 30RWHP. Still under 30 CHP. Your intake should make a "sucking" sound and looks good but no measurable gains.

Not buying that.....know what a kick in the pants feels like..have very measurable gains. The "sucking & looking good" not part of my goal. The fat lady hasn't sung yet snickers!

Hi Johnny again...like your setup w no clearance issues..who was your source/brand on those 1.6RR's & LT4 springs. Anything else needed, i.e. new O rings under the keepers & retainers, altered push rods etc? Was it the piece of cake it looks like?

Thanks a million.
