Default Installing Keyless Entry?

Corvette Enthusiast has an article this month on installing a keyless entry system for an 85 C4. I have an 87 so I assume that it is quite similar to how the one was installed in the magazine. Has anyone ever done this and how hard is it to do. Can a person with no electronic experience perform this task. Thanks for any advice and help. Todd

They are different, 87 has VATS and the 85 does not.

Oh, that probably does change things! Yikes! Do you think that would make it tougher or easier?

I installed a Bulldog keyless entry on my 86(VATS) and it's not an issue. You don't need to be an electrician, but you do have to know how to read electrical schematics. Bulldog has some good info on their site reguarding what wires and where they are.

Installed the same unit in my '86. Works well. No issues with VATS.

I installed a viper alarm and it was no sweat. I would just put in an aftermarket alarm as long as youre ripping everything apart.

Holy S$%t! If I tried to follow all those directions I'd end up at the rear of the car with the gas tank pulled. Is it really that hard. There is no way I could do that. If it's that hard I'll be visiting Best Buy and have them do it. Thanks
