Default stupid hat question

How do you all keep from getting fried while driving with the top off? I get really sun burned when driving in sunny California with my Targa off. At any speed over 40 mph my hat blows off and into the hatch area of my 89 coupe. How do you all deal with sun exposure while going topless: hats with chin straps, hat glue, bee keepers headgear, what?

well i see your name is kim so im just gonna go out on a limb and say your a girl. Not sure what your hair is like but most guys have flat hair that a hat covers up no problem and fits securely. I know my moms hats would blow off with a bit of wind because her hair was quit thick and a bit curly. sometimes the hat makes the difference too. I have a few hats that fit perfect while others feel like they werent meant to be on my head. Have ya tried wearing it backwards?

SPF 40 but I have short hair, and rubsome on my scalp, forehead, face and arms. Have never burnt yet, also carry some in the Car for the longer trips.

Thanks for all of the replies. Although my name is Kim I'm not a girl. Just a dude with a slippery head I guess. Might have to go with the sun block but it's hard to be stylin' in the Vette while all greased up. The staple gun is a swell idea but by the time I was drunk enough to don my hat it probably wouldn't be safe to drive. Keep the suggestions coming, though. The winds here are around 45 mph today so probably will spend more time on this site than driving.

I like the staple gun idea, but a needle and thread will work just as well. A gas mask will also work quite well. That will surely protect your entire head from sun exposure.

Unless you're wearing something like a baseball style cap, it will fall off, no matter what. If you're wearing a hat, why are you getting sunburned? If you're wearing a baseball cap, you will need to make the hat much tighter than normal, or it will also fall off. The faster you go, the more likelihood exists that the hat will fall off.

I always have my hat on either with the top off my car, or in my das vert and never had it blow off, and I got into some high speeds

Baseball cap will help and will stay on a low speeds but the only sure way is to apply the sunscreen prior to going out and take extra with you.

Gorilla Glue works well, Acts as a haircut when you have to take your hat off as well...

A full face racing helmet shouldn't blow off at any speed. If anyone says anything just ask for directions to the track. Good luck.

Pull your ball cap down further on your forehead (like just above your eyebrows) and make sure it's tight. Works for me in the vert, although it's not the way I'd normally wear it.

I'd run with this option here - the bonus here on hot days is that you're also cooking lunch.

I have long hair that blows into my eyes with the top off so a cap is essential.
I've only had one cap blow off but it didn't go into the hatch and was never seen again...
