Upper Dash overlay

Has anyone had any experience using a "Dash overlay"?

Never used one but a friend has one on a 70 Torino that looks great. I know, not the same.

You can get a good used pad for that price. You will be glad that you did.

I've been looking....not too hard yet but looking for used...

I thought I'd ask first..

New ones are $475!!!!

Question here,,,whats the difference between a dash pad overlay, and a dash mat?

I believe the overlay is a piece of hard abs plastic which covers the existing dash pad (think of it like a seat cover). The dash mat sits on the top....

I've got a black dash mat that came with the car when I bought it. It looks good and has obviously done a great job protecting the dash which is in perfect shape. If I want to show off the dash I just roll up the mat and stick it in the back.

If done correctly a dash overlay is hard to tell from the original. I have one on my 85. Careful how you put one on. They are bonded in place so you gotta be quick or the cover doesn't get positioned right.

Good used ones are $125 or so. Check out Contemporary Corvette, Vette2Vette and Gail Gee. One of these guys will have one you can use.

i used one on my 70 chevelle and it was great, dont know about the vette though, my c-4 dash is in great shape.

Used some super stick spray stuff by 3M from Home Depot. Spray and push in place quick. Missed a edge which I glued later. Mine has been on six months, no warps or lifts yet.
