Hey guys, my A/c is not working and it's getting kind of hot over here. I tryied to recharge the system with the R134 cans at the store, but the pressure seems to be fine. The blower works because there is air coming out, but there it is hot. Any ideas. I can barely hear the clutch engaging, but the thing just won't work, any help would be appreciated.
Recharge the system with refridgerant that contains dye. Then you can see where your leak is.
Did this last week and it showed me exactly where my leak was. Easy fix replacing a $40. hose!
On 96's, there is a problem with the nipples on the controller/programmer collapse from the heat. They have to be trimmed back. It is located straight up above the gas peddle, on the firewall. If you are small you can do the fix without pulling the seat.
There is a great write-up on the subject "96' HVAC problem".
Fix only works when air isn't coming out of the correct vents. Temp door is controlled by an electric motor. Remove the Blower Module on the left side of the Evaporator Case and look inside. Door should move as someone punches the Controls between 60 and 90. If it isn't, it drives the door directly though a plastic gear. That gear has probably stripped. Access is from the passenger compartment; remove the lower hush panel and the motor is on the heater box.
dont know if this will help or not ,but try resetting ac by taking out 1 and 15 fuse for 5 sec, should reset it it worked for me once when it only put out hot air.
Ok, I got it fixed. The pressure was just too low, the kits from Walmart suck. The gauge on the can displayed too much pressure in the system, but when my friend and I checked it with a real gauge, the pressure wasn't enough. Now, I just gotta find where the leak is coming from. Thanks everyone.

..... ...mine stripped out under the dash so, a quick fix and all is well.....
There are some vacuum lines that go into a "T" connector under the passenger side fuel rail cover that have to do with the operation of the AC. Make sure the lines have not come loose or that the "T" connector itself has not craked or broken.
