Anyone ever come across this. when i turn my turn signal on left or right it blows the 15a dash / tail light fuse . my turn signals seem to be working fine , but as soon as i replace the fuse and hit the turn signal it blows the dash/ tail light fuse.. i would think if if there was a problem witht he turn signals it would blow that fuse... im stumped on what could be going on here. and suggestions or truble shooting tips? thanks in advanced.
I have a smiliar issue. My tailight/dash fuse keeps burning out. At first I would replace the fuse and it would blow out after about a month, not it blows out everytime I put a new fuse in, and it's just that fuse.
So I basically can't drive at night, I called a mechanic but he sent me to some other guy who I have yet to contact.
i can drive mine at night but i can't use my turn signals at night or else it will blow the dash/ tail light fuse.. im hoping some veterns of the forums will chime in with some solutions.
Do the hazard flashers do the same thing? Do the brake lights work without any problems (test with a good fuse and before you turn on a turn signal)?
If all that works, then I would suspect a short in the turn signal switch on the column. Also could be a short in a wire (bare wire hitting metal) or wire that has come out of a connector and touching ground.
Always include the year C4 you are asking help for! You clearly have a short circuit after the turn signal switch which is kind of unusual because you must have a short in both left and right wires going to the left and right turn signal lamps. It is possible to unplug the front turn signal lights and also the rear turn signal lights which may help determining if the short is in the front wiring or the rear wiring. You might also have worn through insulation on the wires out of the turn signal and the short is inside the steering column.
The hazard circuit powers the same wires out of the turn signal switch to the front and rear turn signal lamps, so if the hazards work ok, your short is not in the wires from the turn signal switch out to the turn signal lamps. The short is most likely in the purple (87 colors) wire from the flasher to the turn signal switch or a defective turn signal switch itself.
