Default 1994 questions

Newbie,

Bought a '94 3 years ago.
After about a year - started having w/ lights on clock and radio plate not going off all the time. It appeared drain the battery down badly if I didn't drive it at least once a week. Tech could not find the problem!

Second question: To a temporary solution, I thought I would put a new battery in. (As you might guess by now, I am not mechanically inclined)
One look and I closed the hood.

How do you get the battery out without tearing the car apart? It doesn't appear to be an easy way?

Thanks

Paul

Open hood.the panel in front of the battery must be removed. There are a few screws underneath the panel that also need removing.when replacing the panel, make sure the panel is aligned correctly so the drivers door does not touch the edge.

There are a couple of screws in the fender well and some on the rocker area. One is kinda hidden near the door, you only need to loosen that one not take it out.

The lights ?? Maybe a bad door switch?

Re the radio light staying on - this just started happening to mine too about 2 weeks ago. Usually some combination of key out/ key in, switching electrics on and off and opening the door and closing again sorts it out.
I don't know where the fault is - I had assumed I'd disturbed the wiring behind the head unit as I had it out recently and was poking around back there. I'm not worried as I'll be swapping out the HU soon, but would still be interested if you find out where the problem is.

I have the same problem with my 93. It's the "door ajar" switch in the driver's door. Try this, turn off the ignition with the radio on and open the passenger's door. If the radio goes off then your driver's door ajar swith is shot or the little plunger in it is sticking.
