And "non-original" cars aren't worth buying?
_______________________________________
Yes non-original cars are certainly worth buying. The money someone has invested in a vehicle can (usually) not be completely recovered. Someone's loss
can be your gain. (You may have misunderstood the post).

People do need to know what they're buying

AHHH, OK. Thats the advice I was attempting to offer.

Re: LT4 Automatic (LT4Coupe)
Anyone considering the purchase of an auto LT4, auto ZR1, or purple
Grand Sport, would be wise to spend $40 on a build sheet from NCM.
If the build sheet does not reflect the equipment on the vehicle, the
vehicle will unfortunately always be considered "non-original". Thats
just the way it is. :chevy

I've got to agree with you on that. You don't want to anger
your god by worshipping the Vette too much.
But just to play devils advocate here. If someone enjoys investing time and money on an old Vette, and enjoys sweating all the details, so-
be-it. I appreciate the fact that I can view some of these cars, and I get a kick
out of how great they look. If someone enjoys investing time
and money on a Vette, just to knock a hundredth of a second off the 1/4,
so-be-it. I enjoy seeing those cars go down the track. I don't see any faults
either way. I like all Vettes of all years, whether they're #'s matching, breathing NOS, or had BIG MAC ;)
Somehow I don't think you'll find a GM build sheet for the Sledgehammer, for Hutch's Z06 Vert, or thousands of of other unique Corvettes that are out there. Not everyone wants to be limited to what GM built.
I agree, but I think the distinction here lies with the people who are trying to "pawn them off" as original. None of the folks/cars you mentioned are being represented as factory original.

Yep, I agree 100% with that distinction. That's why I said you have to know what you're looking at and what you're looking for.
You'll find people that either don't know, outright lie or "embellish" the attributes of their car.
BTW the LT4 Auto car pictured above isn't represented as factory original either. Just dismissing any car because it doesn't match a GM build sheet leaves a lot of nice cars out.
They are in Area 51, but they aren't with the alien bodies - the aliens aren't dead, they're driving them. I know, last time I was in Vegas I saw one tooling past Harrahs with the top down. Ugly little sucker, but grinning from earhole to earhole. :yesnod:
