To make a long story short I purchased a set of torq thrust II's from the internet. I special ordered the rears to be 17x11. So they had to be made. I ordered them with 315 35 rear tires. I ordered them on April the first. I recieved the first set one of the special ordered rears was damaged during shipping and the other had a crack in it that was leaking air. I had to send the damaged one back to the distributor and the other had to have the tire removed and sent back to american racing. I just now got the replacement set one was damaged and the other lost air after two days of being on the car because of a crack in it. Is it possible to get a quality product anymore? I will not disclose the name of the company I bought them from yet. I will give them one more chance to make it right. I just needed to vent a little!
hang in there man, once you get them right, you are gonna love those wheels, and the best thing girls are gonna love your car and your wheels trust me, torq thrust II's are something else
You can't help shipping damage, but air leaks from cracks fresh off the line? If their out the door quality control is that lax, I'd be afraid they wouldn't stand up to a hard corner either. I used to test wheels a long time ago at Automotive Research in San Antonio. I caught a lot of flack for failing a whole shipment of wheels from an "on the border" manufacturer. Hey; I didn't fail them.... they failed themselves by not meeting federal testing standards. I cracked the lug holes on a bunch of them and broke the center completely out of a few too. That was fun to see on a machine, but could have been deadly on somebodies car full of friends & family. I have no idea what the test standards are any more. We can only hope they are as strict with safety as they used to be. The materials must be greatly improved over the years because I've seen some new wheels that just look weak for lateral loading to me.

Well there ya have it
That style of wheel is one of the weakest made back in the day I watched a GTO with big meat and Cragar SS dump the clutch bam R rear shattered
It's getting increasingly difficult to find things not made in China. I try to buy American when I can, but almost every major manufactuer has closed their American Factories and moved them to Mexico, China and any other place that have no minimum wages, benefits, child-protection laws, and no enviromental regulations.
We can thank our corrupt, elected representatives for this. It doesn't matter what political affiliation they have - they're all corrupt and will screw the American Citizens for a fancy meal, a fancy bottle of wine and a high-class hooker on the side.
Unfortunately all my wife could find were "Made in China" wheels for my '95. She got me a set of wheels and tires from Discount Tire - she knows how pro-American-made I am, but she couldn't find a set of the ZR1 knockoffs that I wanted that weren't made in China. She was also watching the family budget. I have no idea where the Cooper Zeons that she ordered came from.
Still, I'm very satisfied with the service that Discount Tires of America has given me. (Gee, I hope that they're a supporting vendor.)

I'm sorry to hear that. I ordered mine (same sizes as you and GoldenBoyWS6) on the net from a speedshop in KS, they had to be built for me by A/R and luckily had no problems.
I CONSTANTLY get told how nice my car is with these. It was like day and night. The rears are quite meaty looking.

Hang in there, the wait will be worth it.
Best of luck to you

A thank you goldenboy post would help . Just kidding man, I am glad that you like your wheels and that you had no problems with them. The TTII's definitely change the looks of the c4, before I had some good comments about my car, after installing the TTII everybody, even people who don't know me want to talk to me about my car. Btw, I bought to sets of TTII's and I had a problem only with one because it wouldn't get balanced, it was replaced right away. The problem with aftermarket staff is the quality, and that's gonna happen with anything you buy, headers, exhaust and other parts/accesories.

Actually I think who we can blame is ourselves. Everybody in america wants to live nice and make a good wage. But the good wage we require drives up the prices of the products we make here.
We also want to get everything we can at a cheap price. That leaves us bitching that American products cost too much and buying imported stuff. Its a catch 22.
You cant have your cake and eat it too.

Pulleeese.... You answered your own "rant" when stating such purchases result from economic decisions. The American Public is getting exactly what it wants, cheaper products, and they are not going to get them cheap if they are made in the USA.
The same economic application was accomplished when the US underwent its Industrial Revolution. Don't you think that the rest of the world at that time thought about buying from the US because the product was cheaper??

Without getting into a flame war with you, as it's obvious from your tone that you want to flame me, I can tell you that I have always bought American cars (even though they're being increasingly built with foreign made parts.) I will gladly pay more for American-made parts and products to keep a fellow American's job here in the states.
If you read my "rant", you'll realize that my wife couldn't find any wheels like I wanted that were made in America. The ZR-1 wheels have NEVER been made in America - they were made in Japan when GM was putting them brand new on Corvettes rolling out of Bowling Green.
So riddle me this, oh master of economics and commerce - just how are Americans suppose to have jobs when our elected representatives gives us the "Free Trade" horsecrap - knowing damned well that merchandise made in other parts of the world utilize child and slave labor?
I practice what I preach about buying American and I suggest that you learn the lesson that your job may be the next one shipped overseas or given to an illegal alien. If that happens, it's going to be very difficult to continue to afford your Corvette.
