A few days ago I saw a newer C4 with the purple-ish coating on the windshield, like the one expensive cars have nowadays. I never knew the C4's came with this option. It sure would help keep my black-on-black coupe cooler this summer...
The factory ZR-1 windshield had a metallic anti-glare coating on it that would have a sort of purplish tint to it when light hit it at some angles. There was a small clear area down low on the driver's side that was supposed to be for a "garage-door opener"
Tell me more about the coating. White racig products made some repros, they are not cheap by any means. Dont know if there are any left...Dread the day I have to replace one of those suckers. Last I heard they were around 2k each+, need the seals too+ installation.
FYI, the coating is in between the glass, not on the inside or outside. Mainly they are expensive because they are old, and back then it was new and expensive. I'm sure the similar windshields in '91 and up GM minivans isn't nearly as expensive (Silhouette, Lumina APV, etc).

I'm still confused, what is so special about it?? It is a coating on glass.
I've got a call into one of my associates to see what precursor is need to get that hue of purple on glass.
And anything over $500 I'll be taking and filling orders.......
Finally, what do you mean you've heard nothing but crap from safelite?
A) they have crappy glass (could be)
B) They tell you things that are not correct when you called them looking for purple tinted glass...
