Default Double Din or single Din Receiver?

My Last Stereo Question before I purchase this week. Do you all prefer the looks of the double din stereo receiver in an 87 or a single Din receiver. What are your thoughts! The more I think about it, I'm kind of leaning toward the double din to really fill up the original stock stereo area. I think it will make it look more complete. Any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. Thanks again, Todd

You can't put a double-din in an '87. The opening is 1.5din, so unles you can find a 1.5 din aftermarket stereo (which is pretty hard), the best you'll get is single-din. It actually looks pretty good if you get a nice, clean faceplate.

Here is what Installed a single din, I think it looks good. Just so you get idea of what the end result will look like!

This is in my 1992.

I have a 1.5 din Alpine FantomFace XL CDA-7897. If you have an auto then the phantom face feature cannot work while the car is in park unless you shorten the shifter.

This one has been discontinued but Alpine still makes 1.5 din models.

I have tried emailing him and another member sent me a PM with one he was selling but I'm not willing to pay that price for it. Granted it's is very nice but I can't justify it.

Any other faceplates?

Where is the kit that has the extra storage space below the HU.

P.S. Looks nice with no breadbox on the pass. side. Nice and roomy!!

Just ordered the same faceplate as agent86. I figured that for 90 bucks it will really set off the stereo instead of an open piece of black just sitting there. Just my 2Cents. Hopefully it will be here by Thursday, so I can have everything installed on Friday. I will post pics.

You will be happy with his work.
I had one of the cheap Metra mounts, looked as cheap as the cost.
