I must say I appreciate your love for the C4's, but you'll soon find out that we're the Mustang II of the Corvette sect. The C3 has the definitive Vette body. The C5 and C6's are wonderful cars that built their names from the C4.
By today's standards, the C4 ECM and traction controls are primative. These cars are tempermental and sometimes a lot of investigation and work is needed to make them run right. The earliest of the C4's were cursed with low-powered engines. The Crossfire, the L98, both top of the line engines of their time are painfully primative and obsolete. Only the LT1 and LT4 seem to get any sort of respect from the Horsepower Happy Crowd.
I know a C6 owner who says he won't wave to C4's. He won't give a reason, but there are many like him.
But thankfully there are more who appreciate any model of Vette. I'm one of them. I love the beauty of the C3's, the coming-of-age C4 Vette that took advantage of electronic advances of the day. The C5 and C6 have built on the heretige of its predecessors. Snobbery from anybody who can afford the latest and greatest will never understand that.
If the C4 is the Mustang II of the Corvette world, what does that make those of us who drive 1984 C4s?
I think they're still terrific-looking cars, with just the right combination of old-school and modern technology/creature comforts to make them livable as daily drivers. And more than one C5 owner has told me they wished they had a clamshell hood ;-)
I'm on my 2nd C4 and showing no sign of getting bored with it...even after driving the C5 & C6. When the clamshell pops open, someone will always come over and look at it.
Why does everyone love the C4??? People have a true love for the
1984-1996 Corvette. Its not the same for the c5/c6. Seems everyone
has a true affection for the C4. The C4 fits in at cruise nites, fine restaurants, first dates, car shows, pebble beach, crusing hollywood blvd.
class reunions, weddings, even hanging out at the local Dairy Queen its a true one size fits all car...Its has a universal appeal.
Gotta love the C4 Corvettes!!!!!!!!!
.................... .......................... Can I have a hit?
Even though I'm on my 3rd C4 all indications I get are that the C4 generation is the least appreciated of all generations. But what we get is a great car for the money. I use the extra money to pay for gas, groceries and other such luxuries. I love all the generations....not even sure which is my favorite. However, I can't imagine having any more fun than I have had with all of my C4s.
C4's: Got one & love to hate it! Love the body and cockpit, Hate the never-ending engine & electronic problems. C3's, I never really liked. C2's; Grew up 50's & 60's so 'Sting Ray' pops in my head when you say Corvette, although mechanically a bit old-timey by today's standards. Drove a C5 from Detroit to San Antonio and thoroughly enjoyed the ride, although I did have to squeeze the throttle every so often just to remind myself what I was driving. It was a little too easy to drift off into "Accord land". C6's, technologically superior but can't really make my mind up. Different colors make that body look good & some others look bad. Haven't driven one but I've heard they're like a C5 with an afterburner
I love my C4. It's my first Corvette and is very special to me but I also love all generations of Corvettes so if the chance to get a newer one presented itself I would have to go for it. I'd try to keep both though.
I don't know why some people knock the car. It's got great lines from any angle, it's still got very respectable performance, the clamshell hood makes the suspension and drivetrain look exotic, it fits like a glove, it's cheap like borscht and it still puts a huge smile on my face! Maybe we should just stop protesting and just nod in agreement (and keep them all for ourselves)!

Well I think the C4 body styling retains more of the "Corvette Look" than the C5's or C6's. The hideaway lights, (I know the C5 has hideaway lights) small rear ends, centre mounted gas caps and the all be it smaller front wheel humps.
The C4 is instantly recognized as a Vette but I find it takes me a second or two longer to recognize the C5 or the C6 when driving
down the highway, but I still love them all,

Really couldn't say it any better!
I'm more old-school...I just can't get past the C5/C6 rear end. I don't think bigger is necessarily better. To me, the C3 and C4 are perfectly styled, classy vettes. But that's just me.
I know a lot of people who dont like C4's at all, just venture into off topic and they will ream you. The technology in this cars may be old but you can always upgrade to a more powerful engine, better sound system, wheels, brakes, etc. They will never be as comfortable and cushy as a C5 or C6 but thats part of what makes them so great, they drive like a race car.
