My 90 has the same 'engraved' date at the front left corner. I have been told that it was done at BG. It kind of looks like some one did it with a dremel free hand sort of ..... I really don't know what, if anything, it means....except that my car was built in May 90 and the hood's engraved date is before the build date on the door sticker.

My '88 also has a date in that location written in white grease pencil or something.
