1986 hard starting
I have a 1986 and when its cold it starts but is hard to keep running for the first 20 to 30 seconds because it idles rough then smooths out and is fine. Then even when normal operating temp if I shut it off to go in a store and try to start its hard to start. Please help the plugs and wires and rotor cap and all that is good. Could theEGR valve be the problem? It throws a EGR code only when on the highway for a couple miles but doesn't run bad.

i think your injectors are leaking. this will cause hard starting untill the pressure starts flowing some fuel.. you also have a 9th injector that could be leaking.. first lets see if the rail is holding pressure. if not i will tell you how to narrow it down.

fuel pressure gauge was used today but when I started the car it slowly went up until it reached about 39 40 psi. after that shut the car off and it held pressure with no problem. I then then replaced the fuel filter because it was old and needed it anyway and it seems to be ok but if you have anymore suggestions i'll try them to make sure. Now the only thing that seemed odd to me is when i took the cap off the schrader valve it had fuel in it.
