Yep and it nots all the way down yet. Close but I think it has a little ways to go.

The book value on my LT4 certainly seems to have gone down since I bought it 2 years ago.

New cars are improving exponenially now, not seemingly linearly as they did before. They blow our cars out of the water in so many categories. In the coming years I think we're going to see unprecedented amounts of depreciation in cars over 5 years old. Look forward to it, it means it won't be long before you can get an 06 z06 for under 10 grand and a brand new car for 60 grand that can go to space.

Bought mine to enjoy it, not for the investment. Having said that there are only 3 C4's and 1 C6 in the town where I live and 2 of them I haven't seen in two years, so when I take mine out there are still lots of people interested in it. Big thing here is the little Z3&4 BMW. Believe it or not all brought in by the local Chevy dealer.

In my area, a well cared for C4 is still commanding a good price. A beat up POS is still a $3000 Corvette however.

C4's currently range from being 12 years old to being 24 years old. The early C4's have bottomed out, and I think it is now more about condition than age. The newer C4's still have some depreciation left.

As for my 86', I bought it in 2004 to be a daily driver and to let me learn more about working on Corvettes. It has not dissapointed me in either regard, and I am a MUCH better mechanic than I used to be because of my 86'.

I think it's all about condition and age. Yeah, a 200k mile '84 will go for dirt cheap. But the well-cared for examples, of all years, will still keep respectable prices. It's like any other car.

I recently passed on buying another '86 for $4600. Car looked nice and had only 46k original miles.

You really should have grabbed it at that price with that little mileage.

New cars certainly do not blow the doors off of our C4's in the style department. The old ones still look better in my opinion.

C1 and C2 and C3 values also dropped at one time. The early C4 IMO will start to jump in value in the next two years. The 84 will turn 25 in several months and be given classic car status by DMV in most states and will not need emission testing in most states. Most of these cars will not be bought for performance reasons, but rather for restoration and nostalgia.

I got my C4 because it was inexpensive and already built. I stayed away from C4s because they reminded me too much of the 80's, but I drove this one and had to have it. I couldn't build this car for double the price I paid. I was going to put the money down on the new Camaro (I liked the Challenger as well, but I am not too sure about owning a Chrysler product other than a Jeep).

C4's are junk. The bottom will never stop falling out....in fact, its a bottomless pit for the C4. They suck! Theyre slow, they look like a door stop, you cant get in & out of them, they use the OPTISPARK!!!!,( I heard once a guy was working under the hood of an LT1 & he sneezed near the optispark & they had to install a new one)....took 28 hours to do the job too!! They are for poor rednecks who cant afford a 76 Trans-Am anymore.

DO NOT BUY A C4! BUY A HONDA CIVIC OR ACCORD. Thay will hold their value for ever and you'll never have to worry about buying into a money pit, plastic. patheticly slow and aged piece of crap.

Oh, then theres the ZR-1.....what an over rated bucket of puke those are!! You cant get anyone, anywhere who will even work on that stupid 4 cam aluminum heap of trash they call an LT5. Its been said that parts are so scarce that no one ever drives them except to pull them out of the garage to wash them, then put them away again.
