i have a 93 that went into a local speed shop, who are pretty good guys, for a bad coil and coil module. replaced it and everything was fine. ran the car for around 5 minutes and shut it off. did a few things and then came back to the car to restart and take it home. tried to start it again and it wouldnt even turn over, everything dead. tried the other key thinking perhaps the first key was corrupted or something and nothing. mechanic went back to work on it to chase out the problem.
mechanic feels he has tracked it down to the CCM as it is not signaling the rest of the car to do its thing. cant find a new CCM and they are on backorder until how knows when.
does this CCM problem sound like the likely culprit and if so does anybody know where to pick one up?
What does everything dead mean? No horn or lights. You need to describe what is happening(or not) a little better. Is the fuel pump coming on when you turn the key on? CCMs don't cause "everythings dead"

If I remember right there are three fuses for the CCM. Doe the digital dash come on when you turn the key just to on position, need more info.
Funny your story sound a little like mine but mine was 2 years ago. I tried using a ccm from a 92 vette but it wouldn't work in my 93. Waited on the new part to arrive at my local speed shop for over 8 months. never came.....Decided to order the part from the chevy dealer and that was over a year ago. Still waiting..... on backorder! I hope its not your ccm and that this isn't your daily driver!
Many similar stories. CCM sends data signal to ECM telling it to fire the injectors.
CCM monitors many non engine function and if it finds a fault on the self check will either throw a code or for some systems will not let engine start.
Airbags (SIR ) fault for instance
Common for the motion sensors on the front frame rails have bad grounds. This will give non start.
The CCM will even throw a code if you install an after market stereo because it is looking for a particular resistance in the circut.
Need to pull the CCM codes so you know what system is in fault.
However; "it wouldnt even turn over"
doesn't sound like CCM.The CCM only cuts fuel , not cranking.

The problem is possibly a Body Control Module. Corvette Central will rebuild them for about $349.00. But when you get it back, you must program it to the VATS with a scanner and a Dealer tool. There are no BCM's in the country right now but are supposed to be ready for purchase in March of 2011. The 1996 BCM's are discontinued. Possibly they may do this with the 1995's. Some BCM's can simply be reprogrammed. GM made a certain amount of cars and then found the problem and fixed it. A microprocessor in the BCM [CCM] does not have enough power to energize the VATZ. The job is a major one getting into the middle of the dash. Then if done, the BCM has to be programmed probably by a pro Corvette technician.
I would suspect a bad ignition switch if everything is dead, or possibly a bad fusable link. The CCM (BCM) while possible would be the last thing I'd do. Won't turn over and dead are two different things. My wife always says "wont turn over" when she means won't start.
Guys------this thread is 2 1/2 years old and the originator Chatham never chimed back in with any updated or a more detailed description of the symptom.
This dog does not hunt and is long gone.
There is good info in many posts here but his vette should be running by this time. Aside from that, it sounds like he could have had a bad fuel pump and then a VATS event. Got to wait 3 minutes to try another key.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
