Waxed the vette today for the first time after my repaint.
When i got home after a ride to wash the bugs off, there was only one. I almost want to believe that the wax made the bugs fly right over because its so smooth rather then getting smashed ?

Bingo.
When I lived in the coastal swamps of Virginia, frequent waxing of the Cobra's nose was the best bug 'prevention'. They easily washed off if a good solid wax coat was maintained.
Not sure if it works for all bugs, but it worked for me.
I think that the love bugs in season would be the most severe test. Forty years ago, drove through Florida during the worst of it, got home with a blue and white van with a totally black front after.

Yep, wax makes them blow off easier. Where I live we have a problem twice a year with love bugs. They swarm in large amounts and cover your car, even getting trapped in your air cleaner in freightening quantities. You can tell who doesn't wax their car because if you leave the love bugs on your bumper more than a few weeks they'll stain the paint so bad you can't get the smudges off! Wax helps for sure!
