My plastic console/dash pieces, are getting long in the tooth. These are rather expensive to replace, can they be painted, if so what paint would I use. Thanks Jim.
Provided the pieces are not cracked and/or stained, you can polish them up with some Mothers Plastic Polish. I did it to the dash pieces and console pieces on my 85 and they look brand new, much better than they did before. You can paint them, just prep them really well and I'd use a good enamel paint for the job. I've seen a refinish paint for the dash pieces in one of the catalogs, its a grey color if I remember right. Or, you can scout eBay for some good used pieces.

Don't just use paint, use GM interier dye. You can get this in spray cans and in Qt. cans at most of the online vette stores. It matches the black color and sheen of the original plastic.. WW
yea, pics dont show quailty. Go ahead and spray can it. I would never use a spray can on a vette. I guess if you dont know how to use a paint gun or are in to big a hurry the cans will do.

For small items like dash parts and console a spray can works fine, on larger items a gun is superior but most people don't have access to a compressor and gun and the other items needed to paint, nor do they know how to mix or thin paint properly. If you use the GM interior dye like I mentioned above with the GM primer for plastic there is no need for a gun.I have painted for years and I would have trouble doing better with a gun on small parts...WW
