If there is good information being given, who cares how old the thread is? Why would someone go back to see how old the thread is? Not everyone is here as much as the rest of us and the old thread may have just what they're looking for information wise.

there are two screws on the top of the housing that are only accessible by removing the ECM. Remove the passenger side cushion pad as well to access the four ECM bolts so it can be removed. make sure unplug the connectors for the ECM too.

Im curious and im sure you guys know the answer........what is it that clogs up the heater core??? Is there something to run thru it to try to clear it?? Blow it out maybe??

This may be a dumb question but my heater control valve rusted shut. This was a Florida car and the owner never used the heater. Does that mean the water never flows through the heater core because the valve is frozen shut?

I have heard of people running water through the core to blow out the crud. Be gentle, it wasn't designed to contain high pressures.

I replaced mine several years ago by buying the whole pipe setup. I have heard that these are no longer available (you should check anyway because some years may be).

That's a good change. Still, it's funny to look at the thread and see how many times it has been revived.

What's funny is to see somebody answer a question that was asked years previously. We would hope that the original poster solved the problem long ago.
I think it's OK to add information to a thread because somebody might find it with a search and it might be helpful to clarify things. The problems don't change -- just the cars that have them.
Parts do become unavailable (or sometimes available) that were recommended years ago, so that information can also be useful. Case in point is the EGR temperature switch that was not available for several years but is now common. I don't think there are any thermostat-mounted EGR solenoids available any more -- a source for those would be nice.
It's interesting to me that some threads run for years before the problem is finally resolved. Here's my favorite example -- hard brake pedal (389 posts):

On the other hand there are some threads that run for years and are NOT resolved. This one on C6 navigation diagnostics was finally locked without an answer (506 posts!):

Probably final post to thread
Got it all back together and drove it today. Not getting any steam on the windshield or out of the AC vents so I guess mission accomplished!
