I have just had a new windshield installed on my 87. What are the pros & cons about using Rain X on it. I have never really had an issue with hard rain as far as not being able to see while driving I think the slope angle on a Vette windshield is good for dispersing water. Just was wondering if it helps in keeping the glass looking better. Thanks.
Not being a smart aleck, but did you try doing a search here on the forum for "Rain X?"

I used it on my previous car, but here's the problem: when you pass under a street light, or meet another driver with their highs on / any SUV (in the vette), you can't see ANYTHING! The light reflects off of all the little tiny water droplets on the glass. For that reason, I haven't used in on the Vette yet, and haven't looked back. While it's nice to have it sheet off by itself, wipers do a fine job as well, and now I can see at night under street lamps.

Yeah, neither did I. So please cut me a little slack next time instead of busting my *****.
Have a nice day.
I've used it and liked it. IF you are going above 50 mph, the rain runs off the windshield (to the top) real good. At slow speeds, it don't go anywhere. I think the main reason folks use it, is they are afraid to use the wipers. The Vette I bought was a 3 previous owner car and not ONE of them had driven it in the rain. The wipers were out of time (the shop manual comes in handy here) and the former owners didn't want to spend the money on getting the dealer to fix this.
If you can work on this type of car it is CHEAP to drive, get your parts on the internet or talk to a parts person in the local dealership. A little visiting and most part managers will give you a discount. BIG difference in the maintaince cost.
....used on all exterior window surfaces on my car...never a problem.....has to be removed with a clenser called "bar-keepers friend" or "bon-ami"......that info came directly fromn the manufacturer.....it will NOT scratch your glass.
