Also, most things on a Corvette are easy to reach and repair. You can change an alternator in about 10 minutes. Try that on garden-variety GM front-wheel drives. I do all the maintenance myself, including changing out the opti. About the only Corvette-specific expense that I've encountered is tires, if you haven't bought tires for a performance car before, you can be in for a bit of sticker shock.
BTW, It's nice to see another piedmont-dweller! (I've lived in Davidson Co. most of my life).
We've had 3 new Buicks...all problem free.
I have also had a Ford Expedition for the past 8 years.
In 8 years all I've done to it is put one set of brakes on it.
It has been completely problem free and has run flawlessly every time I turn the key.
A fellow can get used to that level of reliability after a few years.
I have a large, roll away tool chest and know how to turn a wrench, so I think I'll be okay in that department.
Kudos to a fellow Piedmont North Carolinian.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Thanx.
$6100 bought my '88 in the middle of winter, which is what you should try to do to get the best price.
I remember you looking last year (+/-). There are many nice examples of exactly what you want out there. If you settle for something less than what you really want, you'll think about it every time your butt hits the seat.
I wanted an A4 C4 because I have a Muncie in my '71.

IMHO, the best C4 for the price is an '89 6 speed coupe (digi-dash), followed by '90/91, and then any LT-1 coupe with mileages in the 50-75k range.
That being said, there are great deals on many L98 C4s coming up this winter for even less money.
You'll have to be vigilant, and be the first one there with cash money.
Good Luck finding what you want.

I had an auto 88 bought it with over 110K on it, changed all fluids when I got it.
Only maintenance in ovet 30K miles was tune up and cleaning all the crap out of the radiator. Ex sold it and the kid that bought it trashed it.
I now have a 92 with just over 100K on it, I know i've spent too much on maintenance items and too much time getting it right. I'm looking forward to getting it to the reliability of my 88.
No longer than a few days ago, there was very similar topic (here) - and the opinions were just the opposite.
I think it can be a bit confusing for a newbie who wants to gain some knowledge and make his or her decision...
(actually I'm such newbie too
).Na zdrowia!

Do you have some roots in Poland?
As to the Vettes - just found one '89 for sale in Warsaw where I live. I think I'll try to take a closer look at it on the weekend (seen C4 several times, but never drove one).
The main issue for me is, that while I'd love to have a lot of fun with a car, I still want it to be a daily driver.
Well, we'll see.
