Default **Advice** starting problems

Hey guys,

I have a friend that is interested in buying a 88 (A4) from a local chevy dealership. I guess when he went to look at it last week, it wouldn't start at all. The dealership replaced the battery and alternator, called him back and said it was starting just fine. Well a today a week later he went back down to actually buy the car but it didn't start with out a jump. Once jumped it started just fine. He asked why it was doing that and they told him that C4's needed to be started every week or they will do this.

Now my friend called me up and asked if I have ever heard of this. I told him that I didn't really know. I own a C5 and I've never had problems of letting the car sit for 2-3 weeks and it not starting. Is this something that is a "standard practice" so to speak on C4's or are the guys trying to sneak one past him. I'm thinking that it's got a drain somewhere and he should pass. It's a high mileage car but is getting it at a great price.

Any insight would be great.
Thanks

Could be the starter needing more amps than the battery can supply. They do that when they're about ready to go. Just a guess though.

My 94 sits for weeks on end and still starts right up everytime. I'm getting ready to store it for the winter now but every spring it starts right up. I've never heard of a C4 that needed to be started everyday, I call on who ever told your friend that.

I didn't ask..but I'm pretty sure it was the salesman that told him that. I thought it was a little strange and figured the guy was blowing smoke just to get a sale.
