OK, here's the deal. I have a '96 LT1 and yesterday evening the interior lights would not go out. I finally had to pull two fuses, one for the cargo lights, which also cut out the amplifer on the radio, and one for all other interior lights. Do you think it is one of the door switches, or maybe one of the door locks. Is there any way I could trouble shoot this to figure out what the offending switch is.
I had that happen to me about a month ago. It turns out that the I didn't get the lock straight up and down when I took the key out of the door. I think if it's past 15-20* off, the lights never go out.
I also have a '96 LT1 and that happened to me before, turned out the switch that you use for the lights has an outside lever that when you sometimes turn on the lights, gets moved along with it. That may not be what it is, but you might want to check that first.
If its moved all the way to the top, there's your problem.

I had this happen to me in our minivan about a month ago that has a similar switch. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me and felt like a doofus when I finally did figure it out.
OK! Good input you-all. It isn't the dimmer lever or the hatch switch, BUT, it may be the door lock alignment. The problem started after I unlocked the passenger side, which I hardly ever do. I'm at home for lunch right now, but this evening I will fiddle with the locks to see if that does it. If anyone has any other ideas, let's hear them.

I'd guess the passenger side door ajar switch. I've had to replace mine twice over the years. Funny thing is the driver side sees all of the use and it's still original.
