What's a crosswind ? Seriously,ive never experienced that
The wind crossed the the road and and hit me sideways. off the hills.
Cross wind in NM. You watch a car race and here them complain about wind coming across the track and knocks you to the side a little, It
will scare you at that speed. Since then, I have never been over 85.
Nice strech of two lane between Tx. border and Raton NM.
I try not to go over 80 in LA and only when the traffic is fast flowing and there's plenty of space
Bottlenecks and dangerous areas I try and stay within the posted limit, or slower if my moron-meter is going off.
I wish people would get pulled more for rapid lane changes (I call it the LA swerve), not using signals and generally driving like an ***, which I see too much of and is nothing to do with speed.
I have to agree with the +8 on the highway. Any more and the cops get more likely to pull ya over. Unless you are willing to waste the time you gained, dont bother going faster. 'Bama has taught me to slow down, wear a seat belt and make sure I use a signal even while switching lanes. The cops here are bored and dont have much else to do. I lived 25 years in a large Florida city and unless they had a set radar trap going, they never look at you unless you are doing something stupid. Interstate cops are more forgiving than the 2 lane variety. Oh and do not forget about critters in the road, I had a buddy lose both his legs after hitting a deer at 140+ in a Camaro. He was ok until the airbag pushed his hands off the wheel and he hit the woods. If you want to go all out, find a track for everybody's safety. Be careful out there!

He's lucky it didn't go through the windshield expecially in something like a Camaro.
Having Traveled 85 S between Petersburg and Durham many times this year (even during Thanksgiving holiday) this stretch of road has many hiding spots for the State Po Po,s but i have cruised past them running 78 and they didnt even give me a second look. First time I did I just knew I was busted but it seems if you are going with the flow and not passing every thing out there if you keep it at 78 or under Va or NC dont bother you.
On the long NY/OH run I set cruize at the posted 65, wait till a fast truck passes and then follow watching my mirrors and listening to my Cobra. If I travel at night with moderate truck traffic I can shave an hour off the 440mile drive.
I've never been pulled over in the Vette (knock on wood...), though I've been pulled twice in my truck. I always seem to get pulled by cops who are in a hurry or are having a bad day or something, too. I go with 7 over or with the slightly quicker traffic, whichever is faster. I don't have a radar detector, but I can't tell you how many times I've been saved by watching ahead for brake lights, listening on the CB, and looking out for spots that seem like prime speed traps.
cop caught me going 160 once. He turned the lights on and I let off and began to pull off, and he just flew on, got the other fella who was going about the same speed. He musta liked vettes.
Here in california if your going 8 MPH over the speedlimit you better be in the slow lane. The flow of traffic is usually 80 in the fast lane if there is not traffic.
Back side of the Altamont pass, or the Bay side of the Dublin grade, at 95 I'm being passed by minivans.... and don't get me started about SoCal....
The best place to fly is at a drag strip or other racing facility. It is legal and safe. (If going fast can be considered safe) I am embarrassed whenever I see fellow Corvette owners driving at excessive speeds on public roads. If these drivers crash that was the risk involved with speed and they must accept these consequences. But when innocent folks are involved, then I have no sympathy and say throw the book at them. And I would not look for any breaks from local police whenever speeding. It's their job to protect the public.
And of course it is not always Corvettes that speed, although it seems to be an accepted misconception. At times I am concerned I may get pulled while obeying the speed limits because of this misconception.
Interesting thread that I've enjoyed reading.
Word to the wise: No matter how hard you push the envelope, it will always remain stationary.
Oh well, nothing to do today so I read and laff

I'm all for having fun, but 160 on a public road is really dangerous. Have you ever seen the video of the C4 weaving past a semi at 160? It's amazing no one was killed.

Excessive speed can land you in jail and your car impounded.
Ain't worth it, too many road tracks and drag strips to play on these days.
Get with a group and have a days fun without the hassles.
