Default Push the limit? How much?

A red Corvette is clich'e for a ticket magnet. I would push my white 85 8mph over on the long hauls which got me to my destination fairly quickly and without pissing off the cops.

I've been followed by the cops but never pulled over.

I'm not endorsing any illigal activity here, but everyone I know (including the cops) pushes it a little bit.

I go 5-10 over, depending on everyone else. I have also checked my speedo with a gps since I am cutting it close.

I would think a 95 speedo would be pretty accurate unless you've messed with the wheel/tires.

On the interstate, it's 8 over reguardless of what others are doing. I've passed the troopers and it seems to be ok.

Set the CC for 5-8 over the limit and don't make rapid lane changes. Stay with the traffic, there will always be a azz in a PU, SUV, or a ricer you will see getting a ticket. My thrill about driving a Vette is that I can go really fast if I want to, but I don't have to. I will open it up on the track and have fun, but as a DD a little on the + side of the limit is good for it.

Yup, 8-9 over. 10 over seems to be the limit for action. Most officers I've known say they pull for 10, then write tickets at 15.

10 is likely a trigger. But 9 is too close to 10. It is a good idea to compensate for speedo/laser error. I'ld imagine 7 is a whole lot safer than 8.

My car has a good record, my dad had it since 89 and I have had it for nearly three years and never a speeding ticket! The CHP pulled me over for going 80 but only ticketed me for no front plate once she saw my DOD stickers on the windshield

And a red Vette too. That's pretty good.

I've driven across WI many times. 5 over sounds about right in that state. Even the truckers stick to the limit there.

Went home to Colorado two years ago, I was pulled over
in LA,TX,CO, And also The same places on the way home.
They said I look suspicious doing the speed limit, With
tinted windows and a Fl tag. They all tore apart my lugage
and looked thru my vette. NM. Never bothered me. Did get
the vette up to 144,but hit a cross wind that scared the hell
out of me. never do that again...You drive a vette and sooner
or later you will get pulled over no matter what. Never a ticket though!!

I've relied on my radar detector for 5+ years now. Here in California all vehicle travel at 85+ anyway and CHP would be right next to you doing 90.

Depends on the time and place.

If I am on a back road I know has no side roads or driveways, I may go a bit quick. However, if I were to be on a 70mph expressway, I will go 70 - 85(depending on the flow of traffic, I won't be a speed leader). In neighborhoods, the limit or under.

I've gotten one ticket in the Corvette -- and its my only speeding ticket ever. Since then, I've slowed down a bit.

Depends on circumstances. Some areas I go the speed limit. Other areas, I may cruise for miles at triple-digit speeds....relying on my V-1 and constant vigilance....in the wide open areas of the great West.
Yes, I've been stopped several times in my Torch Red coupe, but have yet to receive a ticket.
A non-confrontational attitude and being 60+ years old helps in that department.

The only experience with the police and a vette I had , the officer turned out to be a member of my corvette club.

Here in california if your going 8 MPH over the speedlimit you better be in the slow lane. The flow of traffic is usually 80 in the fast lane if there is not traffic.

Most vette drivers have good common sense. I think the officers are aware of that based upon their experience in ticketing. You have to stand out to get a ticket.

Me, I am wary of every curve, nook and cranny that a cop can hide at. I never lead the pack. If I am in a hurry that day. . .I will sucker someone into speeding ahead of me. (my favorite) to clear the way of cops. I only use the left lane for passing quickly and safely. Following certain rules, it almost hard to get a ticket.
