Each speaker has its own amplifier board built into the speaker enclosure. They are driven by a low level signal from the actual tuner assembly installed behind the passenger in the storage box on the left side under the plastic box.

It all has to be replaced if a completely new radio system is installed.

The 90-92 amp/tuner is located in the dash under the glove box. (yeah, it's a bitch to get at). It is about 3in x 1in x 6 in. You may be able to get at it to unplug it without taking the dash pad out.
