Keyless Entry
I have one for sale..lol Brand new system, just never put it in the vehicle it was intended for, now that car is gone. It's actually a remote start, but has door and truck lock/unlock funtions as well

Save yourself a headache, pay them the 50 bucks to install it. I have my system wired to lock/unlock the doors and unlock the hatch. Parking lights flash once for lock, twice for unlock. The doors lock automatically when when the igntion key is in the "ON" position, unlock when the key is turned to the "Off" position.

The Viper Keyless Entry system is the type that Goldcylon uses. The price includes a basic intallation.

I had the VKE 1000 in my 89, I liked it because of the GM remotes.. looked factory
I have the 712T in my 90, works the same and most of the wiring is close, there are a few more features with the Valet 712T..

(Note: The units look the same except for the logos and the shape of the remotes. I wouldn't be surprised if both units are identical.)
The Valet 712T, installation and tax was around $150.00. If Circuit City isn't your style, the Viper kit is sold by Best Buy and its price includes basic installation. I can say that I'm very satisfied with my keyless system. You can spend a lot more for a system if you like a lot of bells and whistles but either the bottom line Viper or Valet keyless system will give you everything you need. For another $50.00 plus installation, you can get a Valet system that you can do a remote start for your car. I personally wouldn't get one - they make stealing the car so much easier. Also, some cities are like my town of Fort Collins - the police will ticket cars that are idling unattended. It's called the "Puffer Law" and a ticket is $35 which doubles if not paid within 10 days of issue. Our cops would rather you drive with a small peephole chisled through the ice on your windshield than to let your car idle in the driveway and get warm enough to melt the ice on the windshield.
I spin my own wrenchs but do take my advice - whatever keyless system you get, let a trained installation person install the thing. That way the warrenty isn't voided. It's easy to connect the wrong wire and damage the system. Also, Corvettes have a funky type of lock/unlock wiring that the installation droids have to work with - since they have the installation manuals and we don't, they have an advantage over us weekend wrenchers.

Since it appears that both the Viper and Valet are the samesystem, I would guess the Viper will work also. It won't hurt to have the Best Buy droid check it out if the Viper is what you plan to buy.
