Lets go back to 1984
Yes I think it would be cool to go back to 1984
when the C4 was on every single magazine on Earth.
It was hotter that hot-cakes. It was on every car magazine
and even on the Reader's Digest. Wow!!!!

The C4 holds the record for most appearances for a single
generation. Im taking about the debut, 1984,1997,2005
The C4 made more magazine front covers than any other.
1st place C4

I remember 1984 well. I was a dirt broke 21 year old college student, my girlfriend at the time was a bitch, and life in general wasn't very much fun. Oh...and that cool new Corvette in the showroom at the local Chevy house with the high tech dash........it was locked. The saleshole wouldn't even let me sit in it.
Life is much better today. Enjoy yourself in 1984. '09 suits me fine.

the 80's was a lousy time for alot of things, especially the earlier side of that decade with the pathetic economy & ultra-high inflation (the recession was much worse than it is at this point now, horrific job market, very low public confidence overall, personal life sucked, etc, etc, etc............
as a side note, there wasn't much "cool" about it either, and lower down on the scale of importance -- rock music was at its lowest, gayest levels.
so no, i have absolutely no interest in going back to 1984, in fact the whole decade i'd rather forget totally.

As a kid things stick in your mind. Since Im a old kid I remember the Corvettes built back in the 1960s, so naturally the C1s hold a special place in my heart but it would be silly for me to sell my home to purchase one. There are some current young kids out there who remember the first C4. I did as a parent trying to raise three small children when some one on my block got his first 84. Sure I stared at it but I was a dream I knew I could never afford. To busy thinking about getting to my kids school play on time and paying my electric bill and taxes Corvettes seemed to be just something I drooled at when at a stop light in my Malibu Station Wagon. But those small kids grew up and some right now are where I was many years ago. They cant even think about buying any year Corvette even the 84 they fell in love with as a teen, Now they are working two jobs trying to keep their families alive. So I refresh their memory at car shows. I display the Ads, the magazines they remembered 25 years ago and they love it. Im not going to get into worth, first year Corvette mis haps that stuff should be left to the so call Corvette experts who know everything about these cars. Besides their Corvette is the BEST whatever year they own just ask them if you don't believe me. But I love reliving the year 1984 and in general it seems the real car people love it also.

If you could go back in time you would really pick 1984 ? Even if you were only going back for the cars you could do a helluva lot better than 1984. If you want to see a Corvette on every magazine look for the new ZR1 it's all over the place and has 3 times the power of the L83

In 1984, I was 10 years old, amongst the things I remember are the 84 corvette, the lamborghini countach, Van Halen, the Apple computer, the Atari 2600, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Ronald Reagan. It is hard to believe that was 25 years ago.

There was some decent music out there if you looked. Accept, Dio, Metallica ( Ride the Lightning was new!), the Clash, ...but there was a lot of crap too.
But the best thing about 1984 was seeing it end. I had a lot of fun from about 1986 on, but the early 80's could easily be forgotten.

84 was a good year for me! I was in 8th grade and we had a lot of fun. Of course at the time I really hadn't noticed the economy or anything and at the time didn't care. Our music wasn't the new gayish stuff that was coming out at the time. We were more in to AC/DC, Ted N, Floyd. BUT I do remember the new generation Vette coming out, thats just about the time period where I started to really want one. Took me until 2003 until I finally bought one. Well worth the wait.

In 84 I had two kids (4 by 1987) and had just bought a house and was pretty much just trying to get by. I remember all the hype about the new Corvette. It was stunning, almost Ferrari like, a big departure from the C3. It was a very hot car for the times. In 1986 I saw an 84 at a used car lot and test drove it. It was stiff and rattled, handled like crazy. I thought something was wrong with it and it was already rough cosmetic wise. With twins on the way I passed on it, but never got it out of my mind. Over the years I bought a Mitsu 3000 GT new, an Alfa new, a Mustang GT new, but I always wanted an 84 Vette.
Finally bought one in 2006, an 84 Z51. It rides exactly like the one I test drove back in 86. Lots of fun.

SACRILEDGE!
Joan Jett. Pat Benatar. Van Halen. Asia. Rush. Motley Crew. Judas Priest. Billy Squire. Genesis. Phil Collins. Many, many others.
How dare you trash the rock music of the 80's. Then that Cobain had to show up and ruin it all. 90's suck!
(Last sentence blatantly stolen from "The Wrestler".)

I think that's a great idea.
Let's see, we could all buy Microsoft at the equivalent of 0.08/ share, sell it in 2000 just before the dot.com bubble burst at $50/share, invest the proceeds in Treasury bonds for a few years then sell and buy condos in California and Nevada, hold them until the price doubled, then sell and go back into Treasuries and live fat, happy and rich for the rest of our lives.
