I lost my backup lights last night on my 96 LT4 vette. I checked to see if I blew a fuse, I didn`t. What else could have made them go south?

Your backup switch is busted. I've had the same problem, but sporadic over the last year. Replaced the switch over xmas break, and all is good.
It's on the driver's side of the transmission, up near the top, near the front. It's a REAL bitch to get to, and practically impossible without the right tools. A deep offset 7/8" (I think) box-wrench got it off in 2 minutes, after about 30 minutes of wrestling around with other tools before accepting defeat and driving to Sears
The sensor itself is about $60, available either from GM (little more $$) or Advance Auto (the route I went).
