Default Bilstein Shocks

I am in the market for new shocks for my 1986, and its a Z 51 suspension option and it also has the FE 7 heavy duty option. my question is Bilstein makes 2 different shocks for this year one is a B46 1063 and those are for Heavy Duty suspension and also B46 0238 and those are for sport suspension. Which one is the right one for my car?

I'm not sure on the part number... Who are you looking at purchasing from? I know most Vette suppliers make a distinct separation of the two shocks available. Check out there Corvetteforum store, midamerica motorsports site, corvette sentral... all of thos kind of sites. Look around for a good price. They should distinguish between base suspension and Z51

I know its not the base suspension my options say Z 51 and FE 7 which is Heavy duty suspension but when i go to corvette central and corvette America they have a Listing for Z51 and Heavy duty option as well as the base. So I need to know whether to get Z51 or the heavy duty ones.

I would assume just get the Z51 shocks, because that is what you have.

The break down on this site is easier to understand.

I don't see FE7 listed as an option for '86 but I checked mine and sure enough it's on my sticker.
This sticker with your options should be affixed under the console arm rest.

Mid America lists the base shocks and Z51. They also list Z52 which is grouped with 84-87 doesn't apply to our cars. They came out in '87 for a softer ride. They do have a pretty good tech support staff and should point you in the right direction.

The Z51 and Z52 shocks are exactly the same. The springs were the big difference.
