Lessons learned+backbone gained.

Very good post, IMHO I think you (we) that buy cheaper and fix up to our standards will take much more pride in our vettes, and we also may know more about our rides than someone who goes out and pays 20-60k
for there rides and never has to do upkeep just mods. I also believe alot of the guys that post the dont buy it, probably have been there done that, and even if i dont take there advise, i will still ask it and listen to it. (it is true as you stated) If i had the money to buy a new vette, I would run out and get it today, but, i would keep the 85, and honestly i believe, when i run out of room in the garage, the 85 would be in it, and the new one would be out in the cold. One of the biggest non answered questions I see on here is What is my vette worth? The answer should be what do you think it is worth. I didnt have to refinance my house to buy mine, but in my eyes, I wouldnt sell for less than 25k, Id never get even close to that, but I dont want to sell anyway.
I am still wondering what the definition of cheap is.

I personally have never owned a new from factory car in my life,never had a car that I could buy outright,I always had to make payments and work my way up to something better.
This being said..Owning a car that I never thought I'd ever set in let alone own one....It's gotta be a cheap car or a miracle, and at that point I'd accept either one as long as it's on payments.
Don't take it like I don't absolutely love my Vette because I do dearly love her (DESTINY).
I just understand that Older VETTE bros and Sisters try to impart some wisdom on us new comers and it sometimes seems a little rough and sometimes you finally get what they are saying and why.
Me? diallusioned or disappointed,HELL no,lookie here baby,I finally got my dream car,A VETTE.
Better see some waves out on the roads this summer.

(Hey, I even purchased one of those "Performance hood seals."
)

I have purchased only 1 new car in my life. After that it's only been used, not used up. Yep, I could have purchased a "new" Corvette, but there is no fun in buying a hotrod, the fun is restoring and/or building one. I traded a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 5 speed that I hotrodded and it looked like it just rolled off of the showroom floor for a "beat to death" 88 coupe and I still felt like I got the better deal. Even hammered it was twice the car.
